International City is a mixed-use residential, commercial, retail, and tourism development in Dubai. Spanning over an area of 8 million square meters, it features clusters with exceptional architectural designs from different cultural styles from countries around the world. Each cluster in the area is named after the countries it was inspired from, namely Emirates, England, Italy, Russia, Spain, Persia, France, Morocco, Greece, and China. The moniker of 'International' city was made after these cluster names. In the center of International City, surrounded by the clusters, lays the Central Business District (CBD) and an area that was destined to become a 'replica' of the Forbidden City in Beijing.
During the first phases of its development, International City was hit with controversies and issues, including problems with the nearby sewage facility and its own sewage system. International City is home to over 500 apartments spread over its 10 clusters. A few buildings from the second phase of the project, which is still largely under development, have been opened up to both renters and buyers. The Central Business District also features several apartments, but the units are typically larger than other clusters in the area. There are also freehold villas and townhouses for sale, but they are currently restricted on the south-west boundary of International City, in Al Warsan Village.

The most popular part of International City is, without a doubt, the mammoth Dragon Mart. It is divided into Dragon Mart 1 and Dragon Mart 2. Known as the most prominent trading hubs of Chinese products outside of China, it is the best place to go for cheap electronic appliances, cutlery, hardware, and household goods.
Dragon Mart 1 is divided into several sections, including sections for textile, furniture, lighting equipment, household items, sports, and garments. Dragon Mart 2 has more of a mall setting with four areas: building materials, general merchandise, hardware and machinery, and home appliances. It also has a food court and cinema. Visitors can bargain here, and depending on each person's bargaining skills; some items can be discounted up to 20%.
International City is also known as a foodie hub, thanks to the authentic offerings from its restaurants. The restaurants in each cluster of the city are known to have authentic menus. Popular chains like Starbucks, Le Pain Quotidien, and Chilis are also available in International City.
Another popular attraction near International City is the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located just 15 minutes away from the area. Often called the 'Cape of the Creek,' this wetland reverse is home to many crustaceans, mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish. It is mainly known for the flamingos, but there are also black-winged stilts, reef herons, osprey, egrets, sandpipers, kingfisher, black-tailed godwit, and many more. Along with the fauna, visitors can also see a wide variety of plants, which maintains the area's ecological balance.
For sports enthusiasts, Track at Meydan golf course is just 15 minutes away in Nad Al Sheba. Desert Palm Polo Club and the Emirates Desert Equestrian Club are located nearby as well.

For families with children, International City has a number of reputable nurseries and schools. The most famous nursery in the area is Fly High Nursery and Kids World International. Parents looking at high school options can choose the International School of Arts and Sciences, which has an American curriculum. Other options include Repton School that offers the UK and IB module education and GEMS Modern Academy that offers the Indian Curriculum.
In terms of public transport system, International City is not directly connected to the metro. However, there are four bus routes servicing the area that will take residents to popular metro stations. Since International City is located between interchanges 5 and 6 of Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, access to major roads is fuss-free.
